My Personal Mission

I am here to bring people back to themselves and encourage deep inquiry, purposefulness, passion, courage, compassion and the ability to cope with powerful change.

Born and raised in New York.
In 1962, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Columbia University.

Her career began in design, working in film and photography with artists such as Art Kane.

After a trip to California in 1967, she became captivated by the expansive cultural movement of the West Coast. The Human Potential Movement was in it’s naissance, motivating her to join the search for self-knowledge and expanded consciousness.  In the late 60’s she moved to California and made Big Sur her home. 

At Esalen, she found her calling in Esalen Massage®.  Through study and practice she  became a senior member of the Esalen faculty, teaching workshops in Esalen massage and leading teacher training programs. She also applied her leadership skills serving as manager of the Esalen massage team for over 10 years.

Peggy wrote a book on massage entitled, Connecting Through Touch: The Couples Massage Book, published by New Harbinger Press. In addition she co-produced the Esalen Massage Video.

The values and beliefs of Peggy

Movement studies have been an integral part of her life, participating in 5Rhythms® workshops with Gabrielle Roth, as well as studying and performing both African and Middle Eastern dance. Her committed daily yoga practice sustains her youthful vitality and vibrant approach to life.

During her years at Esalen, she also studied Gestalt therapy with Fritz Pearls, Sensory Awareness with Charlotte Selver, as well as Tai Chi and Yoga. Her own teachings encompass presence-based practices of not only massage, but grounding, centering, meditation, self-inquiry and communication.
